A Work at Home Marketer’s Work Day

As a work from home marketer I get to enjoy a lot more freedom than I did working for others. However don’t let that make you think I don’t work hard for my income.

My experience started out a bit shaky but I eventually learned what it takes to be a work from home marketer and is so worth the time it took to learn.

My Daily Commute Is Shorter Now

For a long time I’ve dreamed of working from my home and making a living at it. Now it’s become a reality and the short commute to the office is so cool.

I get up really early, the middle of the night for most people, and never liked waiting hours before I could go to work. Now I can get up a 4am and pretty much go straight to work. It’s nice to have my day done by noon most days.

I don’t use an alarm. I just get up when I wake up and that’s always early and then it’s off to the office to turn on my computer and next the kitchen to start my first coffee of the day. Then I hit the bathroom to freshen up and I’m ready for the day.

First Let’s Dump The Email Spam

Even though I wake up without an alarm I am still a little dopey for a while so this is a good time to get rid of the spam in my email box. It gives me a little time to wake my brain up enough to really start working.

It doesn’t usually take long as my email software kicks most of the trash to the curb. Next I can get to the real email. Just this morning I received 4 guest blog posts for two different niches and 2 other requests from people wanting to guest blog on one of my other niche blogs.

Guest bloggers make my life so much easier today as I have more than a dozen blogs to provide content for.

I Review Each Guest Blog Post

Each guest post is saved in a temp folder so I can come back to them once I have finished with my email checking. Once I have them all saved I check each on to make sure it meets the rules I have set for guest bloggers.

I don’t accept all guest articles as not all follow the rules. Maybe they don’t think I am going to check them but I do and they get rejected.

Some are bad and get rejected but for those that write quality articles and yet make a mistake somewhere, well they always get a second chance with me. Just not the spammers.

It’s usually about this time I head to the kitchen for another cup of java.

I Schedule Publishing Guest Posts

What’s really great about guest articles or posts is that I don’t publish them all at once. I like to have a single post per day or every other day and schedule posts so that the show up exactly when I want them to, even when I’m off fishing with a buddy.

Publish To Article Directories With PR

EzineArticles.com is one of my favourite article directories and is where I publish first. Why, well EA has the toughest guidelines and won’t mess with any duplicate content. So I publish there first, wait for approval, which can take a few day if you’re new there but it’s quick for me.

After I get the email telling me it was accepted I take the article and spin it using The Best Spinner. This makes a few extra articles I can then use for the other article directories which are less strict.

Relevant Blog Commenting

Don’t overlook blog commenting as it can send you a lot of relevant traffic. There are a couple of commenting tips that will help you get your comment accepted.

1. I don’t just leave a generic comment like so many I reject each day. Instead take a few minutes, read the article and then add a comment that adds some extra value to their article. This will usually get the attention of the blog owner. Especially if they moderate their comments like I do.

2. Don’t know enough yet to leave a value added comment, not to worry. You can read the article and then come up with a real question that will help you learn more. People are usually eager to help as it makes them look good and you may go to their site as well.

Note: Be the first to comment. This will mean most people reading the article will see your comment. If you are commenter 27 they may not even see your comment. To make this easier I use Google Feed Reader or Bloglines to monitor the blog feeds I want to comment on. Feed readers are great time savers.

Need More Content Hire A Writer

There may be times you will not be able to come up with all the content you want. I am always looking for more content so I can publish articles all over the place with links back to my money pages. The thing is I need unique content and rewriting isn’t always an option.

Just a few months ago I learned about iwriter.com where I could request articles for the writers there.  The cost was very affordable which kind of led me to thinking maybe it sucked but my concerns quickly faded away.

An example: Just yesterday I made a request for 3 different articles at 500 words each. They were completed, checked through CopyScape for uniqueness and I was notified they were ready for approval. Today they are already scheduled to appear on my blogs.

I kept one of the articles to use as my original for spinning a bunch more in The Best Spinner software.

PageRank Building

Just two weeks ago I got an email from a blogging friend telling me about BuildMyRank.com. She told me it was a great place to publish articles to build my rankings. It wasn’t free like some of the place I’ve used that got me zero results but they do have a 15 day trial and I would have 10 links.

Of course I signed up and started using the system immediately using up my free links in no time. My articles we picked up and published quickly and indexed in a couple of days. That info is available for tracking purposes.

I wrote 4 articles and used iwriter.com for two more articles covering 5 of my niche domains.

The articles are only published once so no duplicate content floating around. My articles got published on a PR4, PR3 and PR2 sites. I don’t have any free links left but I am certainly convinced it’s a good place to be a member and made the commitment to a monthly membership.

And that brings an end to this article, hope it helps you reach new heights. If so let me know by leaving a comment. Maybe you are even a possible guest blogger.

Guest Blog Post by: Work From Home Moncton

Not every one has a product to sell online. I am one of those work from home online marketers who has no products of their own but I don’t mind at all because it doesn’t mean I don’t have products to promote and sell.

It’s great to have an opportunity to sell other people’s products as it means I can go into a whole lot more niches as I can join affiliate networks and promote other people’s products. All I have to do is learn about them and promote them on my blogs.

Affiliate Products To Promote

Today you’ll find affiliate marketing has limitless potential as there are so many products and services one can choose from. Selling affiliate products all day long for the rest of your life and you’d still never come close to selling all the products available.

One of my favourite niches is the home gardening niche as it’s a great way to save money and if you choose to blog about it you have a way to make money blogging. The garden niche is so big that it has many sub niches meaning you will find unlimited products to promote and sell.

Digital Affiliate Products

I use the Clickbank marketplace to find and promote gardening related digital products called ebooks, which are books in digital form so you can read them on your laptop, computer or ipad or Kindle.

You will find other affiliate programs for digital products other than just at Clickbank. You might want to look at PayDotCom.com and eJunkie.com too.

You need to learn all you can about affiliate marketing and Clickbank is the place to look. It was there that I found the Super Affiliate Handbook by Rosalind Gardner and my online business life started making money. Rosalind Gardner is the go to person for all things affiliate marketing.

Non Digital Affiliate Products

Of course all products are not digital so I went looking for other affiliate networks that have physical products I can promote.

There are so many affiliate networks I have joined but my top sales come from just a few I have listed below:

Commission Junction, LinkShare Affiliate and ShareASale Network

Those are just a few affiliate networks I use and they carry a lot more than just garden related affiliate programs. I use a lot of the same affiliate networks for my other niches like fishing and acoustic guitar.

Super Affiliate HandbookI really doesn’t matter what you niche is there will be an affiliate program you could make money with, unless you pick a niche that is so out there that there is little to choose from but for the normal things there are often multiple programs to choose from.

Just as a reminder, it took Rosalind’s Super Affiliate Handbook to get me on the right path to making money with affiliate marketing on my blogs.

5 Work From Home Blog Writing Tips

I work from home where I write a lot of articles for my blogs but today I have a few more blogs than I can write for so I look for articles on article networks. I don’t care to use the article directories to find articles any longer as I try my best to avoid duplicate content and go for content that has been spun into a unique article. As long as it’s worthy and that takes some doing these days.

Sadly many authors and blog owners only care about getting content out there pointing back to their web pages and will allow quality to suffer to achieve quantity. I don’t accept those kinds of articles where keywords no longer exist and words have been replaced with other words that don’t fit the context, so many ways to screw up an article and they manage to find them all.

So what do I look for on the article networks I use? Here is a short list of things that are easy to do and can make an article that gets rejected into one that’s readily accepted.

  1. Sentences And Paragraphs Should Be Short And To The Point. I go for short sentences and paragraphs with a couple or three sentences each. Short and to the point works for me.
  2. Bullets and Numbers Make Articles Easy To Scan. When I look at an article that contains bullets or numbers I give it a bonus point because using them allow your readers to scan your content for what they desire.
  3. Talk In Word I Understand. I am not a highly educated man and when I find an article that I can’t make sense of or have to get my dictionary out I get a little defensive I guess and usually reject the article. Don’t talk over my head.
  4. Please Take Time To Check Your Spelling And Grammar. I don’t always get it right, a few typos can slip through and my grammar isn’t always the best but I at least try. Too many articles today on the article networks are just too poorly written to accept, mostly due to typing errors and very bad grammar.
  5. Articles Need To Be Keyworded And Catchy. When I look through the titles for articles to accept or reject I instantly check the ones with BAD titles. The title is almost the most important part of your article. It’s what the search engines show in the search results. If it sucks it’s not likely to get accepted.

Article marketing is simple, until you start using article spinner incorrectly, leaving you with a bunch of low quality articles, when, with a little effort you could have had lots of quality keyworded articles people love to accept.

I do a lot of article spinning and still manage to have quality and keyworded articles. I use The Best Spinner to spin my content, however I don’t automate the process and pick each word and phrase replacement manually.

I have found it much tougher over the past year to find quality articles on these article networks and had to step back to look at the time I am spending there looking through articles. Recently I found a site, called iWriter.com where I can pay low amounts to have people write content for me specifically.

Most of the time I get quality because if I don’t I reject the article and the author doesn’t get paid, so it’s definitely to their advantage to produce quality. I can also reject and ignore authors that don’t meet my expectations. I have actually found a few authors I request in some of my niches because they do such a great job.

Like I said it’s at iWriter.com and I have been happy with the results I get there, so head over and see for yourself.

Work From Home Moncton: Guitar Instructor Wanted

I love my guitar. There I said it. Learning how to play guitar, even at age 47, was one of the best things I ever did. I just wish I had learned to play guitar back when I was 16 and girl crazy but I was a kid on a farm with no money or transportation. A rather strict life where freaky hippies weren’t allowed and that meant guitars.

A couple of students I was teaching computer courses to invited me to a party they were having and told me it was a guitar jam. I had loved guitar since before these guys were even born but had never actually learned to play. I was in.

Well long story short they had extra guitars there and at one point stopped playing and talked me into picking one of the acoustic guitars and get a feel for it. I have never looked back and that was just over 10 years ago. About the same time I started my online business.

I had already been a work at home computer instructor, although I also had employment as a computer instructor when I got the invite. But a work at home computer job isn’t what the title says is it?

I was getting around to it, hold on. Thanks to my two guitar buddies I fulfilled a life long dream of playing guitar. I never had dreams of being in a band, just being able to play guitar and now I do.

Work From Home As A Guitar Instructor

work from home guitar instructorThere are a number of ways to learn how to paly guitar but I still prefer one on one training when I can get. If I am at a guitar jam and someone new is there I learn from them whether they know it or not. And I don’t have to pay for those lessons, unless I drink too much of course, then I pay.

But seriously I do enjoy one on one learning because I learn so much faster than written instructions and even videos if I can’t get something right. A one on one guitar instructor can instantly correct me, even if I don’t know I’m doing something wrong.

I keep myself extremely busy with my online business and only allow myself 40 hours a week to work. So being a one on one guitar instructor is only for my closest friends and guitar jam buddies. If you get in the group I will help you learn but only for fun, not money.

My off time is too valuable at my age. Smile

Okay back to being serious for a minute.

Are You Skilled on Guitar?

As a past computer instructor, in this life though, I know how important it is to be patient with students. My patience kept me working and being praised for 20 years. In all that time I only ever embarrassed a student once and it wasn’t intentional.

If you can help people learn how to play guitar and make them feel comfortable doing it you should have a work from home job teaching people how to play guitar. They will praise and pay you and it will come right from the heart. As a guitar player, if you are one, they you know how guitar makes you feel inside. That’s what you would be giving others you teach.

How I Purchase A Domain Name At GoDaddy.com

This is the second article in a series I’ve written about How To Start A Work From Home Blog For Profit. Checkout to see the other

As a work from home blogger with a decade of online marketing behind me I have learned the importance of owning keyworded domain names and have made a few bad purchases that cost me money every day.

Today I only purchase keyword focused domain names and it’s one step you don’t want to miss out on when it comes to online businesses such as work from home blogging.

I am quite happy with GoDaddy.com for my domain purchase and for a good reason. They provide me with domains. They also show me other domain extensions such as .org and .info in case I want to purchase those as well as .com as I usually purchase.

I have been more than pleased with GoDaddy.com service, although I have only needed it a couple of times in all the years I have been doing business with them. Service is so important to me as I not only have domains that are mine I also have domains that belong to clients and I don’t need headaches.

So now you know I am please with GoDaddy and I also highly recommend them for your domain purchases. Now let’s get into how I make a domain purchase.

Go To GoDaddy.com

I guess the first step would be to head on over to GoDaddy.com where we can get started. Of course this is after you have done your research and found just the right keyworded domain name.

godaddy domain name

No need to be a GoDaddy client right this minute however once you have found the domain name that you desire you will need to signup to make a purchase.

You can see the search box for a Domain Search. This is where you will enter your keyword phrase, without spaces though. Directly to the right of the search box is where you can specify the extension such as .com, .net, .info and others.

Note: What comes to mind for most people today, when thinking about domains is .com. It’s just an automatic things to put .com on the end, even if someone tells you it’s .net or .info.

So try to get your keyword phrase as a DOT com first.

Okay let’s give it a try then.

I am looking for a new domain for my home garden site and would like to rank for. I used Keyword Elite to find keywords and to evaluate if I should go for them or not based on data gathered by KE.

Exact Match Keyworded Domain

When I use keywords to find my domains I like to get the domain for the exact match. So let’s say I wanted the phrase ‘raised bed vegetable gardening’ then I would be looking for the exact domain which would look like: www.raisedbedvegetablegardening.com.

The thing is there are likely to be others before you with the desire for that specific and exact match keyword phrase, so what does one do.

  1. You could purchase something other than .com. Just remember that .com has been burned into people’s minds for more than a decade meaning they might forget you extension and just use .com and landing on your competitor’s site.
  2. Using hyphens. The downside to using hyphens is they are a pain and people easily forget them if typing in your domain and again land on your competitor’s site.
  3. Add a suffix to your keyword phrase. If I can’t get the domain as a perfect match and didn’t want to go for option 1 or 2 I would add the word tips and if that doesn’t work I may use my city name: www.raisedbedvegetablegardeningtips.com.
  4. Add a prefix to your phrase. I always go with a suffix first as it leaves my keyword phrase at the beginning which makes it more keyworded than if I add a word to the beginning something like, www.monctonraisedbedvegetablegardening.com.

After I did my research and found that I wanted www.raisedbedvegetablegardening.com as my domain name GoDaddy told me it was taken. I didn’t want anything but a .com. I didn’t want to go the hyphenating route so I tried a suffix. I used ‘tips’ as my suffix and found it was available, as a DOT com without hyphens. Perfect.

So before I ever went looking to GoDaddy.com to find my domain I did my keyword research so I could get a keyworded domain. This is the first step toward your blogging success. Again I use Keyword Elite or Micro Niche Finder for my keyword research but a few years ago I was using Google’s Free Keyword Tool.
