Many people today are actually trying to find an extra opportunity wherein they can earn extra money. If they were to be asked, they wanted something that can make them enjoy both financial and time freedom. Well, there are lots of choices out there for someone to earn extra money without compromising their other important tasks or obligations.
One type of new hobby that anybody would want to try out is how to make candles. Actually, this is not a new hobby but for a lot of people, it is and what many of them do not know is that when they get to learn some new techniques in making candles from scented to candle soaps, they are actually trying to enter into the world of great money-making opportunity.
I should know this because my wife has learned how to make candles on her own and she is really making good money at it and to imagine that she is doing this 2 hours everyday and on Saturdays, she spends around 5 hours on her candle-making business. Actually, she stumbled into this great business opportunity when she was going through the Internet until she came upon this site that has a book guide which can teach people how to make candles as a pastime. But she would like to make extra money while staying at home most of the time. So, she went to work right away and in just a few days, she was starting to make candles on her own.
Today, she is still improving and even though you can say that her profit is not much as of this time, she is positive that she can make this into an empire of her own and I was so very happy that she thought about that. Now, are house is filled with lots of candle making supplies and so to give her more room for making candles, I decided to build a shed at the back of our house.

Past times such as Gel Candle making can be for fun or even for a profit. They have become popular because they do not include any by-products of oil. They are often available at farmer’s markets, flea markets, craft shows and swap meets as a handcrafted item made by someone who is creating a home-based business. In this article you will find tips on candle making products, what is needed and safety tips to keep in mind.
Gel candles are made up of 95% of mineral oil and 5% polymer which is what gives the candle is gel-like consistency in its finished state. There are three different thicknesses of polymer. CLP is the least thick, while CMP is thicker, and CHP is the thickest. If you are planning on adding fragrances or embed any objects into your gel candle for additional decorations, the thickest polymer, CHP is recommended.
Some supplies you will need to make your homemade gel candles include a double boiler, a thermometer to test when the gel is ready and a long metal or plastic spoon. Avoid using wooden spoons in this process as the could form bubbles in the gel, unless that is the desired effect you are going for. Additionally, you will need some containers into which the mix can be poured. To prevent heat related mishaps, use glass or metal containers opposed to plastic or paper. In case of a chemical fire, have a fire extinguisher ready in your kitchen. This is actually a good fixture to have in your home at all times. For additional precaution when dealing with heat and chemicals, wear safety glasses, and apron and gloves. Most of these are just precautions, but always remember: safety first.
To personalize your candle, you may want to add a fragrance or color to the gel. When choosing a dye, the best recommendation is buying it with the polymer you choose and make sure it is a liquid. Don’t plan on using food colorings, clothing dye or even soap dye as they could ruin your candle and not burn properly. The same goes with choosing a fragrance, use one that is meant for gel candles.
Gel candle creations have a primary ingredient of mineral oil and will burn longer than wax that is traditionally used in candles. Traditional candle wax is a by-product of the oil industry and with the prices so high these are a great alternative. Additionally, handcrafted gifts are always a great way to go when choosing what to give someone. But try to use caution when learning how to make gel candles, including common sense, no embedding of flammable objects, and test and label them correctly before giving. Have fun and be careful.
