Work From Home Tips: 3 Free Traffic Methods

Most marketers work from home part time where they are constantly running into brick walls trying to get sufficient traffic to their web pages. Reading so much crap online just give one a big headache and no real answers, how frustrating is that.

Here a few things that can help you get that all important traffic.

1. Link To Your Content and To Other People’s Content

Backlinking is vital in online marketing and even more the more content there is. It’s a constant battle to get search engine placement. That’s why you hear so much about article marketing today.

The fact that there is so much content available and so much duplicate content search engines have to find a way to show the most relevant content and part of that is backlinking. Who is linking to your web pages?? The more people that do link to your pages the more it appears you are an expert in your niche.

The key is to keep your anchor text, the text you use to link to your web pages, varied so it looks natural to the search engines and you will see your URL moving closer to the first page and that coveted first position.

The other part of the equation is to link to other people’s sites, people that have great content.

Next one must realize the importance of commenting on other people’s blogs. Even though the links will most likely be NoFollow links the blog owner and visitors will see your comment, as long as it’s close to the first one, and may respond by visiting your site.

2. Use Meta Tags For Description and Keywords

Meta tags have been way over abused but they still have some value in some search engines so use them wisely.

Your meta tags don’t show up on your page to be viewed by your visitors. They’re actually in the source code of your web page for the search engines to see.

One meta tag you can see is the Title tag which appears on the top of your browser window. It also is the most important meta tag as it’s the tag that will appear in most search engines when you do a search. If it’s not created to be effective people will just skip past them in the search engines. Lost free traffic, bummer.

3. Make Your Content Great And Use Your Keywords

I see so many web sites that have a fairly good title, enough to get me to click in a search engine’s results page but once I get there the content sucks. It looks like speed was the goal, not quality and I imagine their conversion rate shows their success, or lack of it.

No one is going to read crap and then pull out their wallets. We want quality content that is helpful or we just leave and most likely never return.

It’s important to find the best keywords, which doesn’t mean the top keywords. You want keywords that get traffic but you don’t want to be stomped on by your competition right from the start. For this reason you want keywords that still get traffic but keywords that get ignored by most top marketers because they don’t bring in enough traffic.

I’d rather get a lot of traffic from lessor keywords and still make money than go for the top keywords and see no traffic at all.

Work At Home, Good Writing And Getting Traffic

The amount of time, energy and talent that goes into creating content for a work from home online marketer’s article marketing and distribution convinces some to contract with a professional article writing and spinning service. I recognize that other marketers prefer to do their the writing themselves, so I offer these strategies to better maximize the return on the investment of time.

  • Dedicate a regular time at least once a week to write articles. Currently, my weekly goal is four articles. With other writing commitments including my website, this sometimes is quite a stretch for me.
  • Create an easy format that you can easily copy and paste your efforts into those sites where you regularly contribute. Record the following:
    (1) A title that meets the site’s policies such as www.ezinearticles.com of 100 characters
    (2) Word Count
    (3) Copyright Statement
    (4) Bio or Signature statement that meets the character guidelines (1101 for Ezine Articles)
    (5) key words (100 characters for Ezine Articles) (6) A table for key words to be used within the article and as search words.

The table is probably the most beneficial element within this format. As I write the article, I plug in phrases that I believe have high key word value. The table can be easily copied and pasted into a new article with similar key words. These key words then can be prioritized from highest to lowest and used as the keywords within the article submission site. By using the highlight tool, I can quickly determine what words are used within the article’s content.

  • Write from your own personal experience Many people use the web to locate answers to their questions, so your personal experiences actually lend credibility. Share your failures and successes while you are demonstrating your expertise. Use the personal touch to begin to build a relationship and not to “sell” your product or service. Also include some humour if possible. Leave them wanting more, as the old show business cliche goes. After all, you want them to click your link to end up on your website.
  • I always write using Wordpad or some text editor so that I can avoid embedding those invisible codes that are part of any document that comes from a word processing program. However, I then paste the article into MSWord in order to get a quick word count and look for simple spelling errors. I don’t save the copy in the word processing program, though. I want to paste my article into submission forms in pure text format.

Hopefully, these strategies will not only improve your Internet marketing through increased traffic to your web site, but will also improve the quality of your articles and potentially start to build those relationships with future customers or clients.

If you want to earn an income on the Internet you’ll need an effective website if that’s the model you choose to work with. Then… you have to “help” people find your fabulous website. The flood and hordes of people killing themselves to get to your site is called: Traffic. Your site needs to be able to convert, so of course the higher your traffic numbers, the better off you are in terms of ability to produce some sales. This is the goal for every Internet marketer: to make as a high a profit as possible. Keep reading to see what you can start doing to get more visitors to your websites.

First of all, you should list your site with link directories. Be sure that the directories you submit your site to are moderated and owned privately. You can do this without spending any money. Getting links from many directories can help to raise your website’s page rank. The fact that all sites in these directories have to be approved also helps, as people will trust your site more when they see it listed in one of them. This means that directory visitors are more likely to click through to your site.

You can use pay-per-click advertising to get traffic.

Start out with a small budget so you don’t spend too much. PPC campaigns can bring you lots of traffic if you set them up with the right key words and write good ads.

The most popular Pay Per Click campaign builder is Google Adwords. Many Internet marketers have had great success using this service and others like it. It’s important to make your ads interesting enough that people will want to click on them!

Look around, find and contact the publishers of good quality newsletters, or ezines, in your market topic. Try to build a relationship, and then request if you can contribute some articles to their ezines. You’re not doing this for direct payment, you’re doing it for exposure of your name and your website to the audience. You’ll have greater success if your content is presented well and provides good value to their readers. You never know what may come of it, maybe a paid writing job.

There is no shortage of methods to attract website traffic; in fact, it can be difficult to know which ones you want to use. For best results, try to use one traffic generating strategy at a time and don’t try to use several at once. Give each method a fair chance to work; if you don’t see results in several months, you can try something else.

Then when you find something that works well, you can increase your efforts in that direction to get even better results. More visitors to your website can only help you. A certain percentage of your visitors will become customers, so more traffic means more money!

TrafficSplash has risen quickly to evolved into one of the best traffic exchanges on the internet. TrafficSplash has a powerful design, the least expensive upgrades and credits you can find, and the extremley good purchaser service. This traffic exchange also offers many rewards that range from credits to splash points. Referal commissions for Traffic Splash are 50% which also places it in the wonderful range. Included in the TrafficSplash promotion page are personalized splash pages, regular splash pages, a touch page generator, banners, rotators, sample emails and sample textlinks.

Soaring4Traffic is considered a very effective and cutting edge traffic exchange with lots of unique tools and friendly consumer service. The only flaws of this traffic exchange are that the upgrades are over-priced and the referral commissions are only 40%

BlueSurf is one of the more modern traffic exchanges and has essentially exceeded DragonSurf in alexa rankings. This company is pioneered in this respect: the index page always includes an “average surf” number. On the index page, it asserts “The number you see above is the average number of pages each surfer at blue-surf surfed yesterday.” to promote consistent surfing — and to reward the “average” surfer, all you have got to do is surf more pages than the number above and you will get a fifteen credit bonus at the end of the day. This advertisements up.

Begin with one or all of the above traffic exchange programs to boost traffic to your site.
