Which home based business is right for you?

You’re now a work-at-home-mom. You love it. The thought of racing to day-care with your young ones causes a shudder. You get to experience all the “firsts”. Not just hearing about them second-hand. Your children will be nurtured by you. Your family thinks this is the best decision for the kids and yourselves.

But…there’s always a “but”. And it’s money, plain and simple. You no longer have the income you were used to bringing into the household. This will create challenges for your current lifestyle. It will also be the one subject that may cause arguments down the road later on. You want to nip that sucker in the bud as soon as possible. You had thought when the child or children didn’t take up all of your time, you’d like to find a way to supplement the family’s coffers from home Having your own home based business could be the answer.

Will It Be Offline?

There are many things you can do to earn money at home. Just go and spend some quality time at the web site of Entrepreneur Magazine. This is a top-rated site filled with valuable information.

They also have start-up guides for just about any home based business you can think of. Even if you don’t know how you’d like to earn an income from home, this site can inspire you to make a decision.

Why Not Go Online?

Thanks to technology, stay-at-home-moms today have a lot more income possibilities than ever before. The internet has provided opportunities galore. However, these consist of the good, bad and downright ugly. Like everything in life.

So how do the majority of online businesses make money? Information. In many forms.

1) eBooks 2) blogs 3) software 4) newsletters 5) affiliate marketing

If your website or blog or both provide visitors with information they need, you will make money. How?

Some Ideas

Say you start a website/blog with child-rearing information. You can set up an account with Google to have AdSense ads placed on your site. This is free. The ads will be related to the content on your site. They won’t place ads for tattoos or dog training on your page. When someone clicks on those links to get more information, you get paid.

You have knowledge about something that you can turn into an eBook. Don’t say you know nothing. That’s simply not true. And, there will be people searching the internet for the information you provide. There’s also reaources available to teach you how to write your own eBooks!

Affiliate marketing is also a tremendous way to earn a living online. This is simply where you find a product of someone else’s you’d like to promote and you send traffic to their site. When a customer buys that product, you get a commission.

ClickBank is a popular site to find products to promote as an affiliate. ClickBank provides only digital products which are probably the easiest to promote. The buyer sees what they want and simply downloads their product. You can get started quite easily by following the detailed guidance on their site. And the information is readily available to teach you the essentials of affiliate marketing.

How about a work from home employee position?

You might consider applying for a telecommuting position with one of the companies that hire agents to work in their own homes. There is a large variety of work from home jobs available, ranging from

• Customer Service Representative

• Data Entry

• Home Based Receptionist

• IT Support Staff

• Maintenance Dispatcher

Medical Transcription

• Quality Assurance Monitor

• Remote Help Desk Consultant

• Translator

• Travel Reservation Specialist

• Teacher/tutor

• Virtual Assistant

There are some good directories that provide detailed information on the type of positions available and how to contact the telecommuting companies that offer legitimate work at home jobs.

As with anything, proper investigation is crucial. There are no easy, get-rich-quick means to your own home based business. But, there are stay at home moms who have had great success working from home. Even to the point of making more money at home than they did at their former job outside the home.

So now it’s up to you to find the way to have the best of both worlds!
